The Automotive Industry from present to future
The word "Automotive" simply means any form of self powered vehicle. The Automotive industry includes industries associated with the production , wholesaling, retailing and maintenance of such vehicles.
This industry which started around 1860s had its production mostly dominated by U.S till late 1980s when eastern world countries like Japan and China overtook U.S in productions of automotive vehicles. >Although steam powered vehicles were produced earlier, the origins of the automotive industry are rooted in the development of the gasoline powered in the 1860s and ’70s.
According to latest OICA report , the top four vehicle producing countries are China, U.S, Japan and India, whereas the top 4 manufactures are Toyota, Volkswagen, hyundai and General Motors.
The industry which started with passenger cars was later expanded to commercial vehicles that could boost production of other utilities such as JCB , Hydra etc. Although it is the largest industry by revenue and also one of the topmost industry spending on R&D , it is still viewed as suspicion because of environment harming potential. After nearly one and half century and massive development in R&D , it has moved to electric and gas
In July 2021, the European Commission released its "Fit for 55" legislation package, which contains important guidelines for the future of the automotive industry; all new cars on the European market must be zero-emission vehicles from 2035.
